Job Title: Registered Nurse - Operating Room Job Specialty: Operating Room, Circulate, Scrub Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3pm - 11pm, varying Guaranteed Hours: 36-40 hours per week Experience: Minimum 3 years required License: Unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS and ACLS Must-Have: - Ability to operate and learn new-case-specific equipment - Experience in sterile processes and perioperative procedures - Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation Job Description: - Provide professional nursing care in accordance with known and accepted standards of practice - Utilize the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care - Support the medical staff treatment plan and make recommendations for changes as appropriate - Educate patients and families regarding the plan of care and disease management - Maintain competency in perioperative procedures, equipment, and standards of care - Research and coordinate equipment and procedures specific to new cases - Document charges accurately in the electronic medical record and through supply systems - Assist with housekeeping functions, sterile processing, instrument cleaning, and materials management - Float to other departments within perioperative services or the hospital as needed - Communicate clearly with charge nurses, directors, and other staff regarding plans for procedures and patient flow - Record clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and hospital policy - Make resource decisions for patient care regarding supplies, equipment, and acuity of care - Maintain competency in caring for medical-surgical, orthopedic, pediatric, and telemetry monitoring patients - Cross-train to obstetrics and care of the postpartum patient or ICU when approved - May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays and be on-call with a response time of 30 minutes or less - Ensure developmentally and medically appropriate care for all patient populations and age groups - Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and procedures to ensure a safe, compliant, and ethical work environment Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in a Joint Commission accredited facility with an official Operating Room Training Program - Orthopedic experience as an OR RN - Successful completion of Periop 101 - BSN or MSN - Experience with EPIC - Bilingual in Spanish
